Ngaruawahia united
Formed in 1977 by amalgamation of Affco Rangers (1971) and Ngaruawahia United (1969). Traditionally one of the frontrunners in matchday programmes in the Waikato.
Ngaruawahia United was originally formed in 1968 by Ngaruawahia High School teacher Joe Templeton, mainly from players attending his High School. However, due to a lack of numbers, no competition was entered into until the 1969 season, when the team competed in the Waikato B Division.
Amalgamation with Northern League neighbours AFFCo Rangers in 1977 saw Ngaruawahia gain painless entry into the Northern League. Also in the same year the two-storied clubrooms were built, almost entirely by the club membership.

2013 season . . . |
Despite lucrative offers from Auckland clubs Joel Pinto applied for and was appointed as Ngaruawahia's senior coach for 2013. Many 2012 players reappeared on the scene, along with a number of new and exciting prospects. The teams entered for this season are Northern League Division 1 Seniors & Reserves, Waikato Division A, Womens Division B, Federation Under-17 and Federation Under-15.
The arrival of ex-Everton Reserves defender John Irving in late May was a positive addition to the senior side, where he again played alongside his long-time footballing friend Steve Morrison.

2012 Season...
This was the season for the club's third team, playing in the Waikato A Division. Undefeated all season with 14 wins and 4 draws they pipped fellow chasers Claudelands at the final hurdle. The Senior team, playing in the Northern League 1st Division, had a so-so year and finished 8th of 12 teams having been threatened with relegation for much of the year. Picking up 10 points in the last seven games did the trick. Losing Everton Reserve Steve Morrison to a serious early-season injury was also a blow to the cohesion of the side.
The Senior Reserves went 13 games without defeat at the start of the season in the NRFL Div.1 but, as injuries struck the top team and players were fed upwards, their momentum flagged and they dropped too many points to chase for the top.
The club also fielded a Mens' Waikato C side, a Womens' B squad and a Federation Under-15 team. The junior side of the club saw eight sides take the field each Saturday morning with four of them topping their Championship sections..

2011 season . . .
Under the tutelage of player/coach Phil Ruggles Ngaruawahia regained Northern League Division 1 status for 2012 by coming second in the Division 2 competition. The penultimate game against Fencibles (equal second on 39 points) saw a 2-0 victory to the Green Machine and promotion.
Our Federation 1 squad had a forgettable season with the Waikato D side riding at the top of their competition. The Federation Boys Under-15s and the Women (Division A) found themselves propping up most of their competitors.
The 11 Junior sides saw seven of them taking out their Championships sections.

2010 season . . .
If ever there was a "Season From Hell" this was it for Ngaruawahia. Having gained second place in the NRFL Division 1 in 2009, earning a place in the Premier League for 2010, Ngaruawahia saw everything dashed as the football administrators allowed a breakaway group of clubs back into the fold without them having to start at the bottom. The lads only won one match all season and ended up in the NRFL Division 2 netting only 11 times.
